Do I just fill out the D81 form?

I started my divorce online through the government. We've got our conditional order and now need to sort our finances. My wife and I are in complete agreement with what we want to do and who keeps what. It looks like we just need to fill out the d81 form? Do you help with this or do we need to do anything else? Thanks!

Hi Gareth,

Thanks for reaching out to amicable. The language used on the government website can be a little confusing, but sadly it's not as simple as filling out the D81 and sending it to court. You will need to also need to have completed a full financial disclosure (if you're an amicable customer you can do this through your dashboard), submit a draft a consent order, which outlines your agreement to the court (this will need to be done by a legal professional such as amicable), send the consent order to court with accompanying documents (this includes the D81). A judge will then review your information, and if satisfied that the draft consent order is fair, will approve (seal/stamp), making it legally binding.

We have 'write-up' services where we prepare your consent order (and accompanying documents) on your behalf and manage the court process.

Please book a free 15-minute call to find out more about this service and your options.

Best wishes, Holly
